Berkshire Maestros Job Opportunities Berkshire Music Hub
Caversham Music Centre

The new Caversham Music Centre opened in September 2017 to meet the growing demand for more local junior and intermediate ensembles in the north of Reading. With plans to develop more opportunities for group music making in ensembles, this music centre is set to grow rapidly in the coming months.

The new centre is the base for a range of group activities, providing local children and young people with a safe and friendly environment in which to develop their musical and social skills. All activities are led by highly qualified specialist Maestros tutors.

Caversham Music Centre is based in the music department at Highdown School.

From September 2018 we will also be able to offer instrumental lessons on selected instruments at Queen Anne's School on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. To find out more details please e-mail caversham@berkshiremaestros.org.uk.

Highdown School

Lessons

Once Caversham Music Centre has relocated to Queen Anne’s School in September 2018 we will be able to provide lessons after school on Wednesdays and Thursdays on various instruments (subject to the availability of our teachers). We will be able to take advantage of the newly refurbished teaching rooms and brand new pianos to teach in. You can register for lessons at the new Caversham Music Centre now or if you would like to make enquiries about which instruments we will be able teach there, please e-mail us using caversham@berkshiremaestros.org.uk.

Lessons are fun and interactive and provide children with the skills and knowledge to become excellent musicians. Sessions are tailored to individual needs and can build up to music examinations or simply focus on the enjoyment of playing. It might also be possible to hire an instrument from us if you are interested in lessons but don't own an instrument (subject to availability and our usual terms and conditions of instrument hire).

Ensembles

Caversham Music Centre provides opportunities for young musicians to join three new ensembles.

Ensembles provide a perfect opportunity for young musicians to enjoy playing as part of a team, improving and enhancing many areas of their learning. Their knowledge of repertoire will be extended and they will learn more about techniques and musicality.

Ensembles also enable young musicians to come together to share a joint passion, create new lasting friendships and simply have fun.

Initially young players will be able to join a string ensemble, a woodwind ensemble or a guitar band, but plans to expand and introduce a wider range of groups in the future are already in the pipeline. All ensembles will be open to any child from beginner to grade 5 ability and experienced group leaders will ensure that the repertoire is engaging and tailored to the needs and abilities of all members.
