Music Making in Early Years

Mini Maestros runs weekly classes, taught by professional musicians and Early Years music specialists. We also teach in nurseries and schools across the county.

We offer exciting, engaging and well-paced sessions, using a wide range of inspiring resources and real instruments.

We also train Early Years teachers and practitioners in high quality music-making with children, supported by current research on child development and wellbeing.

What we do...

  • Pitch it right – Singing lots of songs and having fun with rhymes and rhythms.
  • Get the beat – Playing percussion instruments and music games to develop a good sense of pulse.
  • Move and groove – Dancing and movement activities to develop physical coordination and fine motor skills.
  • Train your brain - Responding to music and following instructions to develop thinking and listening skills.
  • Go solo - Performing in class and to others to develop confidence.
  • Get Creative - Improvising and composing to develop musical ideas and creativity.
  • Musicianship Skills - Opportunities for older children to read rhythm notation, play tuned percussion and to learn an instrument.
